I saw a great video today on youtube that sums up the whole Iranian-American crisis. Its one of the best I’ve seen and is a must-see. It is a microcosm of the larger, emerging necessity of global rule of law.
Having said this, anyone with a glimmer of geopolitical sophistication realizes this whole thing is about national self-interests and the coming energy crunch, something I’ve discussed here at length. The only way to solve this is global rule of law; the only way to make national interests global interests. The U.S. is rather transparently trying to get control of the last drops of energy dense petroleum lest some other self interested power does the same and denies that same wealth to Americans. These kinds of resource conflicts can only be resolved by law and equity, in a framework of global rule of law, imo.
